I work mainly with children, but I had a great interaction with a family just the other day.
A grandmother had come in for an appointment for her grandson and noticed the Ta-Da Chair at our reception.
“What is that?” she asked, pointing towards the chair.
I replied “This is a Ta-Da Chair. Have a look at this” and promptly demonstrated how easily it can fold up, be used as a walking support and, with a simple release of a catch, turn back into a tripod chair.
Turns out, she was looking for something to assist her when it came to walking to her grandson's soccer matches, and something else for her to sit on while she was there.
This chair was the perfect opportunity to fulfill both roles; support while walking and a convenient chair when we get to our destination.
As a chiropractor, I recognise two things that are important in maintaining our health as we age: keeping mobile, and maintaining active social engagements.
With keeping mobile there are important aspects behind this in the form of strength and balance. In the general population, after the age of 50, our strength and ability to balance starts to decline.
Chiropractors work with improving motion and strength, but sometimes having that additional support – such as a third point of contact while walking, which the Ta-Da chair provides - can help reduce our risk of falling.
As for the social side of health, many in the older population are often hesitant to participate in events when they are unsure if there will be a place to have a seat or rest once they are there. Again, the Ta-Da Chair offers a solution for this.
If you think a chair that converts into a walking aide could help you, head over and have a try.
